After a VERY painful experience this past saturday when DTV installers were to install an HR10-250 and never showed up during the 1-5pm window period....wait that is another story

anyway, I currently have East/West Distant Networks (which i do NOT want to give up) - so i am correct in my assumption that i must get the HR10-250 to keep my DNS feeds ? What am i currently loosing by not getting the HR20 ?

thanks for your help/guidance!

Interesting - I thought they turned off the East Coast feeds for those on the West Coast.

Since you live in LA - you would get the locals in HD with the HR10-250. At some point these will be turned off - probably when the new Sats are launched and then you will need a HR20 for your locals.

On my regular DirecTV - TiVo; i still get all the channels (except PBS) from channel 380-389; which i really do not want to loose....i really enjoy having a 10pm PT show recorded @ 7pm PT because of the DNS
