I am a new subscriber with install appointment numer 3 scheduled for this Saturday. The initial install went ok after finally getting the approval from my landlady to put the dish on the roof of my rental house. (This was quite an ordeal, but it's a whole other story.) There are a lot of surrounding trees, and we were told this was the only option. We have a singal strength for 110 generally around the high 80s to 90s, and for the 119 the signal strength is generally around 100 all the way to 120s. The first intaller was never able to get a signal for 129. He went up and down the ladder several times tweaking and changing parts before it started raining. This created what was deemed a hazard and he left the job unfinished. Two weeks later (last Sat.) a second guy came out and decided that it was not possible to get the 129 due to the trees. (I had also discovered a ground loop hum in the mean time, and of course the tech had no idea about this. I'm planning to make a second post about that one!) I guess it's at a lower angle that the others? The first guy didn't even suggest this was the problem before or during the install. I understand from reading the forum that many people have problems with the signal strength for 129, but how likely is it that I have no signal at all with the other two fairly strong? Of course, this eliminates the majority of the HD channels to which I've subscribed and potentially renders useless the $200 I spent on the VIP622 upgrade. I was also excited last night when I discovered that two of my network waivers had been processed silently (we don't have HD locals here), until I discovered that the HD versions were on 129 again  . When I called Dish to find out my options it was suggested to have this 3rd appointment with a "field supervisor" to confirm the diagnosis. I don't necesssarily doubt the second tech, but I thought I'd get some forum opinions before the next appointment. I hope they figure out something new this time! I don't really want to pay for tree trimming on a rental property, and I doubt I could get permission anyway. Thanks for your input.

HD Versions? There are no HD Distants.
