I went to bed so frustrated last night. If you guys can help me I'd be so appreciative.

I live in the 43402 zipcode area. Whenever the tigers are playing on Television, ESPN, ESPN2 They are blacked out on my dish network, yet my neighbors with direct TV can watch it on ESPN or ESPN2. Also, last Saturday I came home to watch the BYU vs Boston College Football game that was scheduled on ESPN2. Another game Michigan ST and Pittsburgh was also scheduled. When I turned the television on both games were blacked out. I had to go to a friend house with Direct TV and watch the BYU and Boston College game on his ESPN2.

So last night I see the Tigers are playing in Chicago and it is scheduled for ESPN. I turned ESPN on it was blacked out. I finally called DISH NETWORK. The first person said there wasn't anything they could do. I asked for his superivor. The superivor told me that it was blacked out because I could watch it on my local station. I asked her watch station was that. She said it was channel 430. I turned to 430, but it would automatically flip to 431 my FoxOh station. I told her that and she said I was having technical difficulties and she would transfter me to the techinician. Of course, I was disconnected.

I called back and we through the mindless menus and finally talked to a tech. She told me because I live in Ohio I would only get FoxOH. I said then let me see it on ESPN which I'm paying for. She claimed that it was ESPN decision on what areas they black out. I told her that my neighbors with direct TV could get in the same area. That it wasn't an ESPN thing, but a dish network issue. I then talked to her superivor and got the same story.

Can someone help me understand how dish network can block these games. I think they do it so I have to purcahse another sports package. I'm already paying for ESPN so how can they do that. HELP. HELP.

If there a way to get this resolved short of going to cable or direct TV?

I have Time Warner Cable here and games involving the Washington Nationals are blacked out here in Charlotte despite not appear on any of the local channels. When I lived in Memphis, Cincinnati games would also be blacked out although not appearing on a local channel. MLB has some weird rules on the blackouts.

I would accept it if it was baseball blacking out the game or ESPN. The dish rep is trying to blame it on ESPN, but if it is ESPN or baseball blacking out the games why do my neighbors get it on direct TV's ESPN?

I don't mean to be a pain, but I just don't understand.

According to the MLB website, 43402 should be blacked out for Tiger games. Sounds like your neighbors are just getting lucky.

At the bottom, you select a team and it shows you all of the zipcodes.

Maybe your neighbor has "moved" to a zipcode that is not blacked out.

Ditto.

Well actually I dropped TW for Dish, then Dish for DirecTV, then DirecTV for TW again. Dating from December 1998 to present. Each time was a step in the right direction as the industries and companies involved have matured, some got better and some got worse. I do not regret for a second going back to Time Warner.

This is all the way that FCC has the companies qualify the addressess... Kinda weird but nothin' Dish can do.
