I'm thinking about switching to E* because of horrible D* PQ. Right now I have D* on 2 tvs, 1 DirecTivo and 1 standard reciever. Question is can I use the 625 with just one tv so I will have dual tuners like I do now with the D*Tivo? I will then need another standard reciever. So am I right in assuming I will be charged the $5.98 dvr fee and then $5.00 extra reciver fee?

If you connect the 625 to a working phone line you don't need to pay the extra receiver fee.

Does anyone else know if this is true. I just asked a rep. on the live chat on DishBuilder, and she said I would have to pay $5.98 dvr fee + $5.00 for 2nd receiver even if I had the dvr connected to a phone line.

If you connect the 625 to a working phone line you don't need to pay the extra receiver fee.Yes you will have to pay the fee on the second receiver because you will have 2 receivers. If you don't have a phone line 24/7 on the 625 they will charge an additional $5 fee for the second tuner in the 625. Seeing you had a TiVo you should have a telephone line there. If the 625 is in single mode it will function like a TiVo allowing recording on 2 tuners and outputting eithe tuner to the connected TV.:)

The 625 receiver will have the $5.98 DVR fee, and a $5.00 extra tuner fee. This $5.00 extra tuner fee will be waived if you connect the 625 to a phone line. The 625 will work fine in single mode on 1 TV with both tuners on that TV.

If I am understanding you correctly, if you want/need another receiver in addition to the 625, then you would pay a $5.00 extra receiver fee for that additional receiver, for example, something like the 311 receiver.

boba is correct in his explaination of fees. The "extra tuner fee" will never be waived. If you don't connect the box to a phone line, then you will be charged an additional (3rd) fee (think of it as the "not connected to a phone line" fee).
1. $5.95 DVR Fee (waived if subscribed to America's Everything Pak)
2. $5.00 Additional Receiver Access Fee (Never waived)
3. $5.00 The "Not Connected to a Phone Line Fee (Waived if box connected to phone line.
I hope that clears it up.

Anyone esle have a problem with the phoneline coming unconnected even though it's still in the bay of the phoneline jack or is it just me.

When you have the everything pak the $5.98 is waived, that is correct.
I havent paid a $5/month fee for my unit but that is probably because i'm an AT&T Leasee.
I get the warning for the phoneline fee once in a while but thats because of the problem i mentioned above. I tried numerous cords but it seems like a "vibration" or something wiggles it out enough to still be in the back but not be connected. I know it's not on my phone jack end because my phone and my dsl work 24/7/365 and they are plugged in the same jack.

This thread has me wondering whether I'm being charged correctly as a new customer. I currently have a 622 and a 625 that are both connected to a phone line. The 625 is set up to work with 2 tvs.

I am being charged:

5.98 DVR Fee
5.98 DVR Fee
5.00 Add Recvr Fee

Does that sound right?

Thanks,

Flyer

That sounds right. 1st $5.98 DVR fee for the 622, 2nd $5.98 DVR fee for the 625. Both receivers have the $5.00 extra tuner fee, which are being waived because you have it connected to the phone line. The $5.00 additional receiver fee is for having another receiver besides your 1st receiver, and in this case is for the 625.

My 625 would fail when I tested the connections via the menus. However, the box was still contatcting Dish Successfully. Then with the software download before last, the box would report (correctly) that the phone connection test is "Passed". So, I think it is the Dish box. Check your diognostics to see when the last successful connect was. Then call Dish and report this so you are not charged.

Also, the nomenclature can be confusing, so I am NOT negativly criticising anyone; I just wish to make it clear for what it is we are being charged. There is no "extra tuner fee" This makes it sound like we are being charged per tuner, and that is NOT the case. We are being charged for each BOX on our account, and that is listed as the "Additional Receiver Access Fee". So, a dual tuner box is charged only the one $5 fee because it is ONE box, regardless of the number of tuners the single box may have.

Does any of this change if you lease versus buy? I thought the DVR fee was waived if you lease the box. No?

The dvr fee is only waived on the AEP or higher, leased receivers would still have dvr fee otherwise just like owned receivers.

Garys is correct. Just to clear-up: EVERYONE pays ONE additional $5 fee per box (HD is $6, I think) on each account. It has many names. One name if it is a leased box, a different name if it is an owned box, but it is still the same single (ONE) $5 fee.
