This isn't a support question. It's more of a testimonial, so if it doesn't belong here, I apologize. I've been peppering the forum with questions and possible bugs since I joined, so i'd like to tell a positive tale from last night about my Dish service, specifically with the 622. I tend to ramble, so be warned. I have a 622 at home controlling an HDTV on the first floor (TV1) and an SDTV on the third floor (TV2).

Last night was "bleed the radiators" night. My wife and I were watching the Virginia - Gerogia Tech game on ESPN HD on TV1, and when that game got out of hand, I turned the heat on to start the process. I went up to the third floor, where TV2 is. The radiator in that room was basically empty, so while I waited for the hot water to get up there, I started scanning channels. I saw that there was a Pixies documentary on the Documentary channel, which I didn't even know existed. So, I decided to give it a shot.

While I was watching that (it was excellent - I'll have to check that channel more often), the OTA tuner started recording the season premiere of My Name is Earl. So, my wife was watching the game, I was watching the Pixies doc and the 622 was recording the show. After the documentary, the radiator was only about half full, so I watched a recorded episode of Futurama on TV2.

The radiator still wasn't close to full after that, but at that point I remembered that last year we ended up just shutting that radiator off since it gets so warm up there from the radiators below. So I quit waiting for it to fill and bled out all the other radiators. Once the house was ready for the imminent cooler weather, I went back downstaris and since the game was now well out of hand, we watched the just-recorded My Name is Earl premiere in HD on TV1 before calling it a night.

I'm by no means a power user, but last night I probably used the 622 about as thoroughly as I am likely to do. I am very happy with the unit. When it's working, it does just about everything that I have wanted out of a TV receiver. The shared recordings are great. I was very happy that my wife could watch the game downstairs in HD while the OTA antenna was recording a separate program in HD when I was upstairs watching a third program waiting for the radiator to fill. Being able to do all of this on two tvs with one box is a fantastic touch. Now that my 61.5 dish is retargeted, I'm very optimistic about the HD reception (which had been problematic). I've only been with Dish for a week and a half, but so far I'm very happy with the switch.

Thanks to all here for the advice and support. I hope those of you who are having trouble with the unit find satisfactory resolutions. It really is a great device when it is working.

It is always nice to dwell on the positives. Thanks!

Last night was a busy one for us too. We had both HD tuners recording network shows (Earl and Office, and the Grey's Anatomy recap) while we were flipping channels on the OTA tuner (waiting for enough time to pass so we could watch Earl without ads :)), and my daughter was upstairs watching something she had recorded on the DVR.

That was 4 different actions at once, and it is pretty amazing that this box can keep up with that without a hitch.

I agree, when it is running hard, it can be an amazing machine.

I too am very pleased with my 622. It worked flawlessly up until the 3.63 update, which caused the video to stutter on SD channels. After rebooting the problem disappeared and has not been seen since. :)

Great Post. Glad to hear some good news. Its what we are all 'seeking' with our various issues.
