I was driving through the neighborhood today and came across this interesting dish mounted high up in a tree.
There were a bunch of LNB's on this thing, but I couldn't get around to the other side to count them.

I've seen a couple of tree mounted dishes here too. Those folkes may be sorry some day when the tree grows the dish out of alignment and/or the RG6 no longer reaches. I hope they put enough slack in the RG6 to account for tree growth!
I have a friend whose D* install years ago was mounted about 12' up a tall pine tree.
She never quite grasped the physics of dish misalignment caused by wind-sway fade.
When she moved, she got DishNetwork with the only Dish coupon I ever got credit for.

I hope they put enough slack in the RG6 to account for tree growth! If you've ever seen years-old initials carved into a tree's bark near its base, you'll notice that each part of a tree grows wider but doesn't migrate to the tree's growing tips. In this case, as the tree branch grows wider and possibly shifts a little, it may move the dish out of adjustment, but tweaking its direction on the mounting arm should realign it. And it shouldn't need more than an extra inch or so of RG6 in the tree's lifetime.
