I have a question about the vi622.......I have an OTA antenna and recieve my locals thru the antenna....If I want to record a HD show on NBC starting at 9:00pm thru my OTA antenna and want to record a HD show on ABC starting at 9:00pm ...can I do that with the vi622?? I heard thru this forum that you cannot record 2 HD shows at the same time from your OTA antenna?? thanks for any help.

The 622 only has one OTA tuner. You can't record two programs at the same time on the same tuner.

You can record from satellite and OTA at the same time - but not two OTAs.

It doesn't matter whether the show is HD or SD... since the ViP622 has only one OTA tuner, you can only record 1 OTA program at any given time. The other two tuners included are satellite tuners, so you could record 2 different satellite channels (HD or SD doesn't matter) at the same time as the 1 OTA channel.

If you are in a market where there are HD locals available to you through Dish, then you could record ABC on satellite while recording another network OTA to accomplish what you are asking.

thanks for the information...I guess thats one thing that DTV has over the Dish.....with their new HR10 and HR20..you can record two OTA shows at one time......still debating which one way I want to go....Dish or DTV...thanks again

Not a big issue to most but you can not do this with D* with only one line from the dish. Only E* presently has the one line solution to feed two turners with only one input. Having said that, installing another line for the HR10 & HR20 should be free from D* as a new customer.

Recording three channels at the same time using the DISH VIP 622 DVR is kind of neat and they could all be HD, but only one could be an OTA. Remember with 30 HD channels presently available from DISH you are more likely to use and want this option from them than with D* with far less.

Yes but if your Area has Dish HD locals and you have an OTA feed, you can record 3 HD local shows at one time and that at times is really handy.
