Cincinnati rolled out locals in HD today and other people have them but I don't.
They don't show up in the guide or when I go to the channels directly.

I have the HD package and SD locals in my programming

Any thoughts?
Please?..............

DustB, are you running a 5 LNB Dish or 3 LNB Dish?

It was supposed to be a 5 LNB - I assume it is since it was just installed on 9/16and the guy kept telling me local HD's were coming. It sure is a lot bigger than the old round one

does he need b band converters on his box? is your dish aligned?

verify that your dish is actually seeing the 99 and 103 sats, by checking your signal strengths.

Look at the pictures in this post. http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=65295

The tall one is the 5 LNB

As for the BBC's, supposedly they are not needed until next year. Some users have reported problems with them being installed, some have not.

It was just installed less than 2 weeks ago so it better be aligned.
I've got all other channels I'm supposed to have.
Signal strengths looks good 88-95

It is not reporting anything about those sats - only the 101, 110, 119

what now?

Under my system info, I just noticed it says "oval - 3 LNB"
That's not right.
Can/should I change that?

Sounds like you have the 3LNB and not the new AT9. Did you look at the pictures that rockon1 posted?

If you in fact have the 5 lnb, then this should be changed. Since my install of the 5 lnb won't be until this weekend, i cannot verify if this should be auto-detected or not. Maybe the installer just did not select it correctly.

It is dark outside right now but I'm pretty sure that is the one I have. Almost positive. Could the installer have just set it up wrong within the HR20 settings?

I changed the satellite setup to 5 LNB.
It is now pulling signals from all 5 birds - although only about 60% from the 99

Bingo - HD locals.

Thanks fellas.

Stupid installer............:)

Glad you got it partially solved. :)

Sounds as though you may have an alignment issue with the 99 sat. You might consider calling back and asking for a tech to come back out and verify its alignment.

BTW, Welcome to DBSTalk. :)

Yeah, might as well give them a call.

The 99 sat is 60%
The 103 is in the 70's
The other 3 are in the 85-95 range

Lots of great info and help on the site - it's been great for the last 2 weeks or so.
It has helped me get through the transition from DirecTivo

Don't bother calling. As the Spaceways sats do not have any transponders with national coverage, you may not see both the 99 and the 103 equally. Whichever one has the highest signal strength is the sat your locals come from.

So the 99 and 103 do nothing but spot beams?

Does this mean I'm not pulling in anything from the 99 sat?
We're all basically just using 4 of the 5 sats?

Yes.

So far.

I had a terrific, knowledgeable installer. We're due in the next month for HD locals [fingers crossed] and when we checked signal strength, he pointed out that 2 of the channels were already up and sending -- even though we weren't "turned on" to receive them.

Signal strength was as good as everything else I'm now receiving -- and all are higher than the previous P3 dish on the "strength scale".
