Now I understand that the OTA tuners are not active on the hr20 yet, but I still have a question. I dont have an OTA antenna but I do have standard cable running to the back of my TV. (It is currently hooked up to the back of my SD DTivo unit even though I have never once used it.) I know that there are a few channels that D* is not offering in HD yet that can be picked up by the tuners built into the TV that I am buying. Im in Boston, and I don't think D* is bcasting cw in HD yet and I think there are a couple of others as well.

My question is this: When the hr20 OTA tuners become active, can I just connect the standard cable line to the antenna in and search for channels or will I have to use the tuner on my TV. (I don't want to do the latter because it will not be easy to show my wife how to do this.)

No, the HR20 HD DVR tuners are not able to tune your cable company's QAM digital TV channels. The HR20 HD DVR tuners can only receive over-the-air ATSC digital TV signals.

Thank you for clearing that up.

Not only that, but I would be willing to bet that if you have standard cable (no box) that that signal would maybe not even be digital, let alone HD.
