View Full Version : Install 622 Mon advice?
Question.. Dish is letting me keep my 625 reciever and antenna. Should I remove this before the installer comes Mon Morning? At the moment it has the 500 plus dish, with a single cable coming in to the house.. If he uses the 1000 dish, should I mention to him to use this 500 dish seperate for the HD signal. Anything else I should look out for from the installation? Its only a 10ft connection to my reciever inside the house. just don't want him taking everything like the last installer did below.
Last local installer.. took everything from the Directv setup. He only had one bolt to holding the dish.. which was flapping. He even forged my name for the 18 month commetiment which I refused to sign at there store. Just got that straighten out with dish. As just posted in the General dish forum. I wasn't there for that install, deff going to be there for this one.. thanks ken

Didn't see you specify what receiver you were changing too.. You said you were keeping your 625 and dish..
But most Dish Policy tells the dealer to pick up the D500 when switching to a D1000. I never do, cause I just don't need them.. But I can tell you in most cases with HD it is much better to use a 2 dish solution.. The D1000 and the 129 satellite is flaky in my opinion.. But then I am close to the fringe of the footprint.. IT really depends on the installer as to what he will provide for you. IF haveing only one dish is important then just ask the installer if you can keep your D500 for future use.. He probably will not care.
Thanks, going to the 622 as the main reciever and may put the 625 in the bedroom down the road. In which case I wouldn't need the Dish 500. Although I well mention to him if he can use the two dishes instead of the one. I live in the PGH Pa area 15147.. Well the 622 dish, be a single cable feed into the house as the 625 is now? Or do they use a diff cable for the HD? From what the Dish sales rep said. I'm having a new install as a new customer and keep my other setup for future use. Thanks.. I sure wish I lived near you..

622 will use a single cable just like the 625.. No changes in cableing need to be made to switch from one to the other with the exception of using the HDMI or component cables to your HDTV.
The Dish is your only concern.. The 129 sat has problems but it does work and you can have the single dish. Again I can't tell you what your local installer will do.. He may not be willing to use the 2 dish setup without extra charges.. I can only go on what I would do if I came out.. And I would rather put up the second dish not because it is the easiest solution, but more because I would rather you be happy with how it works.. It's all about making a happy customer..
Sounds like two 500 dish's instead of the 1000 is the way to go. Well they need the switch box for using two dish's.. Think I'm all set, well see what happens Monday morning.. I wellmention that to them before they come out. Thanks for your advice..

If one of the D500 has a DPP LNBF then no other switch is needed. Just a cable run back from the 2nd Dish 500 to the input port of the DPP LNB. Since you have only one cable going to your existing 625 then I have to assume you already have a DPP LNBF on your dish now.. Not sure what you have though. You could have a DPP 44 switch installed in which case that will work with this too..
I not only tried just the 1000, but then I tried the 1000 plus a 500 and 129 still had low signal strength. They finally replaced the 500 with a 24" dish and that brought the signal up more than 10 points.
What is a good signal strenth for the 622 for this area.. 15147 PGH Pa area.. thanks.. Right now, I'm getting on the 625 87 meter reading for this area..
