Hi.
I'm coming back to Dish after a very disappointing 8 months with Directv.
I'll be getting the 622, and with my new Sony LCD HDTV, I need to know which sort of HDMI cable to buy before my installation on 10/28.
Should I buy a male to male cable? I probably should buy some component cable as well, since there seems to be issues with the HDMI from what I've read.
I just want to be ready that day for the best viewing experience.
Thanks.
PS Is Monster cable worth the extra price?
Yes, you need a (standard) male to male HDMI cable.
IMHO, Monster cables are NOT worth what they charge for them. I would purchase a lower price one but not one of the really cheap ones. The really cheap ones that I have seen are not well made and sometimes there are problems with the end connectors.

You won't be disappointed. I have bought many many cables from them and recommended them to many friends and all have been happy.

Just an FYI on *ALL* cables. Consumer Reports just did a report on Cables Cost vs. Reliability.
Basically, they said that there is NO difference in high end (read that, EXPENSIVE) cables vs. the cheapos.
The only difference was durability...if they are going to be run over by a dolly everyday, stomped on by kids, or in a place where they could get damaged it is a concern.
I have found monoprice a great website, as well as Newegg of course! Once you know, you Newegg!!! :)

Sounds good.
I can't wait to make all my D* receivers doorstops and get back with E* (who I know is far from perfect).
I thought after 9 years of Dish that D*'s offer of a free DVR and inexpensive 3 month service would be a nice change. Christ, I was wrong!
4 returned DVRs and 8 months later, I'm just paying the cost and getting back.
Pay me now, Charlie Ergen!

With my installation coming within a week, I would have ordered via 2-day air from Monoprice.
That brought the cost up into the Wal-Mart range, although the Monoprice would have been a 10-foot cable, versus the 6-footer from Wal-Mart.
But six was long enough.

Just my 2 cents....
Just ordered monoprice cable last week, hooked it up to my 622 last night, and I cannot see any difference between this and my 100 pound ($180!) Ixos HDMI cable I had in the UK! And this thing from Monoprice cost me $16!!!
monoprice all the way methinks........!

I bought a 3-foot gold cable from these guys for dirt cheap, and the quality is outstanding.

I received my HDMI cable from monoprice.com
Wow! For such an inexpensive price, this is a truly sturdy, and well made cable.
I moved my install up to the 14th, and I can't wait to return to E*, use the 622, and make Directv's R15 piece of trash DVR a dorrstop!
Thanks for all the info!

PS...after my install, I'm sure I'll be back with LOTS of questions...
