Hi,
This is my first post...We just bought a new LCD TV yesterday and after hooking up our regular box, have decided that we NEED an HD receiver. Since we're going to be upgrading, we've decided to get a DVR as well. Problem is, we don't have a phone line, we have Sunrocket. I've done a search and found a lot of posts of people saying they use their VOIP service with no problem.

What I'm unable to find though, is how it hooks up. Our main phone unit is upstairs in the computer room, while the TV is downstairs in the family room. How do I get this to work? I've read where the dialing prefix should be *99, but what hardware do I need in order to hook the box up to the 'phone' line?

Before I order the upgrade, I want to be sure we'll be able to use the VOIP system with it.

Thanks in advance!

Well, I simply plug our Vonage box into a phone jack and then we can use phone jacks throughout the house. Most home phone systems are daisy-chained together which means there is a loop and all the phone lines splice into it. If this does not work, then you probably have a wiring problem at one or more of your jacks.

Some folks use wireless modem jacks to transmit signals through the house. In that scenario, you would use a line splitter to provide a jack for the wireless modem jack and plug the other end into your receiver.

Good luck,
Jeff

I use Sunrocket and have all the phonejacks in my house wired. The sunrocket box is connected to the modem/router per their instructions. The phone line from the Sunrocket box goes to any wall phone outlet. This activates all your phone jacks with a dial tone. You have to disconnect the incoming wires from your outside main phone box.

Hope this helps.
