View Full Version : DISHPro PLUS Separator
I'm replacing a my 2nd 211 with a 2nd 622 but I don't want to run another line... drill another hole, etc... will the DISHPro PLUS Separator work if I replace my DISHPro 34 Switch with either a DISHPro Plus 44 Switch or a SW64 Switch Assembly?
If not, is there no way to split a single line for the new MPG4 receivers? And if its still no, which switch would you guys recommend?

Yes it will work on the single cable provided you have Dish Pro Plus equipment outside, either the DPP 44 switch or the DPP Twin Lnbf or anything else dish comes up with that is DPP compatible. Just the Separator on the inside at the receiver and the DPP stuff on the other end and you are in business
THe SW64 is not DPP Compatible

Ok - Dumb question coming up - How can I tell if I have Pro Plus equip outside? I know I have two 500s, w/ 3 cables attached to a DP 34... any easy way to tell or am I going to have to pull out a ladder?

If the LNBs are working with a DP34 they would be DP equipment.
DP LNBs can be connected to the DPP44 switch.

You just answered you own question.. You have a DP 34 switch.. And that is not DPP.. Just DP.. But DPP stuff like the LNBF has it stamped all over it.. If you see a big DP on your LNB's then they are Dish Pro and Not Dish Pro Plus.. You will see the Plus on the back of the LNBs if you have them. You can replace the DP34 with a DPP 44 but it is rather pricey..($150-$199) . Would have to know exactly what you have on your 500's to tell you exactly what you need to make them work with out buying the DPP44 switch..

Are you doing this all yourself.. And not upgrading through Dish? Because if Dish is doing this they would take care of getting you what you need to get it going.. If you are footing all the bill then you will have to expect to put out some money to make this work. Besides the DPP 44 switch, the other option involves Buying a DPP Twin to put on your D500 that is pointed at the 119/110 and then a cable from your second dish will feed back to the first dish and the DPP Twin inport port and the DP34 switch is pulled out of the mix completely. The DPP Twin would be considerably cheaper than the DPP44 switch.. But the DPP44 switch would be the easiest solution.
Sorry if Im not following... I knew I had to swap out the 34, its sounds like I have to check the LNBs as well? Which would require binoculars... but somehow I doubt I have them if they didn't bother with the switch. So at this point, I need all the above if I don't want to run another cable?
You do not need to replace the LNB's, even if they're only DP devices. All you need to do is replace the DP34 with a DPP44 and you will be able to use the separator as you intend. I just did this, so I can tell you as a matter of fact.
Good Luck!

Sorry if I didn't make myself clearer.. I tried to say that you had to change one or the other. And that the easiest but most costly was to change the DP34 switch to a DPP44 switch.. The LNB change was the cheapest route but the most complicated if you are a novice. You don't need to change the LNBs if you change the switch..
Sometimes in my explanations I forget that I have been doing this since forever and some things may not be as clear to someone else.
