View Full Version : Does HDMI work with sat inputs disconnected before SW download?

I have had a dead HDMI from the beginning (9/10/06 install date). I have tried every diagnostic and cable switching combination there is and still no joy. As a last resort, I took the 622 back where I bought it and had them hook it up to their setup in the store, and sure enough, still dead. They then took out a new 622 and hooked it up via HDMI and it was dead too!! Component output worked on both boxes. I got to thinking afterward if there may have been an issue with compatibility which would only be resolved after a SW download. Their TV was a Toshiba DLP. Could this be a possibility because their new unit had never been authorized or connected to a satellite input, or may they have gotten a bad batch of 622's?

Hopefully, this will be resolved because I called Dish afterward and they are sending me a replacement. After I explained what all I had gone through to prove the HDMI was dead, they replaced the box with no argument. New one will arrive Wednesday, I will report back then.

As an afterthought, they told me that the 622 had been discontinued and they could not reorder new ones. When their stock was gone, that was it. Theirs are JVC brand boxes. I found this very interesting. The retailer is HH Gregg in Indiana.

The 622 has not been discontinued. They are idiots.
