I was a former customer, but switched (unfortunately) to D* 8 or 9 months ago.
I've been through quite a bit of dishes, and my install is going to be on the 28th.
Which dish will they use? I had the original dish back in 1997, then the Dish 500, then the SuperDish. Are they still using that? What should I expect to be installed?
Thanks.

I'm not sure about what might be installed at your location, but it is primarily the Dish1000 that they're installing for the 622 because it's able to see three (3) satellites (110, 119, and 129).
In Illinois the Dish1000 is "standard" for new ViP622 installs. It is really up to the installer you get.
Dish 1000 for me. San Diego, CA.

My installer actually used two 500's here at my place about 2 months ago.

some will do that. A friend of mine has 2 dishes, 1 for 129 and the other for 110/119.

That's what I have in Temecula, CA. Installer said it was a must to get good signal on 129.

I live about 30 miles East of Dallas and my installer, although would have hooked me up with a brand new 1000, installed a Dish 300 next to my current Dish 500 and my signal strength on 110,119 and 129 is fabulous. It ranges from 80-103.
He told me that he has a hard time getting anywhere near 78 on the signal strength with the Dish 1000 even after many many tweaks.

Same here. If you have any trees at all on your property, you'll likely not clear them for the 129 satellite on the east coast. It's very difficult to hit 129 here where we are, and I'm not sure I'd want to even if I could. It's at such a shallow angle that it will go through a lot more atmosphere than the 61.5 sat which is at around 45 degrees for us, and the more shallow the angle, the more rain fade you'll have. I'm actually not a big supporter of 3 sat dishes anyway as their reception ain't that great compared to single or dual IMHO.

I would recommend if you are getting hdm have a dish 500 keep the 500 on 110 and 119 and have another 500 or an older 300 together and you will get better signals on 129.
I have the 1000 and was loosing some of the transponders in lite rain, 22 is one weak one, so installer came back and put up my 300 peaked on 129 and I have gained at least 5 points or more than the dish 1000.
