TNTHD, ESPNHD and ESPN2HD are HD versions of SD channels, right? Like exact programming copies but in HD? But is DiscoveryHD the same?

Just asking before I remove the SD versions from my favorites.

But TNT and THE ESPN HDs are the same as their SD counterparts?

Discovery SD and HD have different programming. Many of the Discovery HD programs are commercial free! :)

While the TNT titles are the same, sometimes the SD version is easier to watch. They have a nasty habit of doing some sort of evil widescreen conversion that is nauseating. I'm not sure what it is, but it looks horrible.

The ESPNs do the standard pillar thing which is a whole lot better IMHO.

Yes, DiscoveryHD has different content than its SD counterpart. At one point they said that the reason for this was to give you what you wanted on an HD channel... All true HD content. I will guess it will sync up one day when there is more HD.

That's why they call it Discovery HD Theater, and not just Discovery HD like ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD.

Discovery HD is different. They end up showing many of the American Chopper shows in HD well after it has been shown on the SD channel I have noticed. Also some shows such as Discovery Atlas ( a great show in HD) are only shown on the HD channel.
