I just thought of a possible problem.
I still have my DVR501, which I will use as the receiver in my little "getaway" room downstairs.
I was lucky enough to find a CSR (by playing CSR roulette) who is counting me as a new customer instead of a returning one. I just used my cell phone number, and that was enough for her to start a new account.
The problem, though, is the smart card that's in the 501.
It'll have my old info on it, right?
Should I let the installer know that I'll need a new card...or how do I get around this one?
I know I've been asking a lot of questions lately, but I need to get back in to the DISH way of thinking vs the horribleness that is Directv's R15 DVR (junk).
Thanks again for all your help.

Uh-oh.. I see the start of something here.. I would start ducking now..

But on the card part.. Has nothing to do with anything.. 622 don't have cards.. And the 501 card is married to the 501 and the minute you add it to your account as an additional receiver I see problems in your future. New card wouldn't help. The ROO number on the 501 will track back as easy as the card

So, seriously I won't be able to use the 501 without problems? grrrrrrrrrrr. It depends on your history. If you left E* in good standing and there is no balance on the unit they may just treat it as if you bought it from whomever had the old account and allow you to add it to the new account. But if there are outstanding balances it doesn't matter who owned the 501 before or who tries to add it to their account - it is a no go.

If the "old information" on your smart card is unpaid PPVs or a receiver tied to a delinquent account then you need to clear up your account.

I left in excellent standing. They were begging me to stay when i left (and I wish I never did---big mistake on my part).
Hopefully the installer will be ok. Otherwise, I'll just add my 311 that's been dormant for 9 months, I suppose.
I appreciate the help.
