View Full Version : Is there a problem with setting up manual recording events?

Try as I might, I cannot get a manual recording event to show up in the to do list consistently. Here is a specific example.

Fox News Channel features the World News weekdays at 3 PM. When I tried to set up a first run series recording, I saw the 3 PM M-F programs listed to record but I also got the same program at 9 PM and 3 AM every day.

I concluded I needed to set up a recurring manual record for the 3-4PM time slot but when I look in the to do list none of the episodes is scheduled to record and the prioritizer shows no episodes scheduled. There is no other event scheduled for this 3-4 PM time slot.

When I performed exactly the above steps to manually record the first run O'Reilly Factor at 5 PM, it shows up in the to do list at only 5 PM even though the show is rebroadcast at 8 PM. This worked as I expected it to and is consistent with the way Tivo handles manual events. Yet when I tried the same thing with the rebroadcast 3 PM event, nothing I seem to do will yield the same results.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Dave

I have yet to get a manual record to actually work properly. The History always says "Canceled"

Repeating manuals are even worse. I set one up for Monday nights only and it randomly inserted it on other days throughout the week.

As far as I'm concerned, manual recording simply doesn't work.

What I'm trying to do:

Record one channel from 7-8pm m-f. Same show, new episodes at 7 & 7:30pm

Can't set up a series link as the same show airs at 4pm & 4:30pm, but are about 3 years old. Those airings do not show they are "repeats". Setting up a series link records all of them 4pm, 4:30pm, 7pm & 7:30pm. All I want to do is record the new shows at 7 & 7:30pm.

For me, one-time manual recordings work fine, but recurring manual recordings cause problems. Sometimes the box will record the first instance of the recurring manual recording, but never more than that (for me at least). Other times, it won't even record the first one.

As others have mentioned, I see the recordings listed as "canceled" in the history list, even though I did not cancel it, and there were no other conflicts.

The same behavior has persisted with the most recent firmware update this week.

Anybody know a work-around that will help me tape one daily episode of SportsCenter without spinning my hard drive all night?
