Hello All,
I have read several posts and the review guide about how to switch the 6.3 remote to position 3 but it doesn't seem to work via rf. I'm not sure if the remote is just bad and wanted to check with the experts to see if I was missing a step. I can get the 6.3 remote to control tv1 but only via ir. It never seems to be able to change the system info of tv1 to ir/uhf pro. In fact it doesn't seem to work on position 3 at all. I can only seem to get it to work with tv1 on position 4 and then only via ir. I only use 1 tv but the dvr is hidden from view so I would like to control via rf. I've seen a couple of references to "the black UHF side of the key" and I'm not sure what that is referring to or whether it has anything to do with my issue. Any suggestions would be great.
thanks,
jp

When you have the 6.3 UHF Pro remote in position 3, do you have the 622 at the System Info screen and hit Record on the 6.3 remote? Use the 5.3 IR remote to get to System Info if needed and click on its Record button to change TV1 so that it says address X IR. Change the 6.3 remote to be some other Sat address Y. Move the switch to position 1, 2, 3, 4 and hit record each place. You should see TV1 or TV2 change address to Y. If it changes TV1 to be Address Y - IR, hit record again on the 5.3 to put it back to X, move the 6.3 remote to the next position and hit record again to see what changes. I'm hoping you didn't hit Record after moving to position 3.

If you are in single mode, just enable shared view and the blue remote will work on TV1. No need to do anything with switches on remote

Thanks for the suggestions but the 6.3 remote only seems to affect tv1 on the 2nd and 4th switch settings. On 2 and 4 it does toggle the address to the 6.3 settings but I still only see IR on tv1. I may try and get a different 6.3 remote to see if it is just defective. Thanks again for your help.

I currently have the 622 in single mode with shared view enabled but the 6.3 remote (with the blue #2 plate inserted) in its default position (position 1) does not seem to control the tv at all. Is there any other settings that I should be aware of or is it as simple as moving the switch to position 3 and then I should see ir/uhf pro next to the tv1 remote settings? I have been able to try different address settings ex: 1,2,etc. but they only seem to take when the 6.3 remote is on its switch setting of 2 or 4.
thanks,
jp

As oljim said, you don't need to do anything to the remote if you are in Single mode w/ Shared View enabled. In that mode with the blue 2 key in the 6.3 remote, it moves the switch to position 1 and controls TV2 via UHF Pro. That also controls TV1 (Single mode). The 6.3 only generates UHF Pro in position 1 (TV2) and position 3 (TV1). You didn't mention being able to use the 6.3 to control TV2.
Rather than changing the remote address, it might be easier to change the A/B band switch and hit Record. In position 1, you should be able to change TV2 to be UHF Pro Band A to UHF Pro Band B. If that doesn't happen, the remote doesn't work in UHF mode, the receiver doesn't work UHF, the UHF antenna isn't connected properly, or ???

If you have an older DISH receiver that used UHF (not UHF Pro), you can test that your 6.3 generates "old UHF". If it can, it most likely is generating proper UHF Pro as well. An old 4000/4700/4900/501/508/510/... available to test with? That's what the 6.3 controls when you flip the blue 2 over to the black UHF - position 4 is both IR and "old UHF".

Positions 2 & 4 generate IR and positions 1 & 3 generate UHF Pro (but no IR). You do have the UHF antenna connected - right?

I do have the atenna connected but I don't have an older receiver to test with. It looks like you are correct in that either the remote or the reciever is not working with UHF. I will swap out the remote today and see if that fixes it.

While on the subject of remotes, why does the remote (blue #2) 6.3 have less range than the one for my 921? 8.0

You have better batteries in the 8.0?:D

Flip the A/B switch on the 6.3 to B range and hit record at Sys Info. That prevents the 8.0 from working at all, but should make a BIG range increase on the 6.3.

I only have 6.0 and 6.2 remotes and haven't noticed a range difference between them. At about 75' and 5 walls to the antenna, I have "dead spots" in the master BR where it matters which direction you point the UHF remote (and toward the antenna isn't necessarily the answer). Same spots with a 6.0 or 6.2. Brand new batteries are much better. Using UHF Pro B range would break all the extra 6.0 remotes so I don't use it.

I do not use the 8.0 with the 622, I use it for my 921.
Will try the b setting on the 6.3 and see if the range is better.
Tks for the info
