I lost my signal last night after a mini power outage. My receiver no longer shows setup. I can get into menu and move the dish, but that is all. My signal strength shows -78 on all channels and that is not correct. What can I do to troubleshoot the problem and get the signal back. Help!

Try unplugging the receiver from everything, wait a minute, then hook it back up and plug it in. If after that reboot it still won't show you the menus, then it's possible that you had a power surge that fried part of your receiver. :(

How will I know what part is fried? Or will I have to get a new receiver. Would the frying come through the coax or the power plug?

Considering that it was a "mini power outage", I'd guess on a surge from the power plug, although anything could happen. As to which part, I wouldn't know, and unless you're a lot handier with circuitry than I am, it might not matter.
If it were me, I'd be looking for a new (used) receiver. If you look around on eBay, you'll probably find old analog receivers selling pretty cheap.

The reason I said "mini power outage" is because we occasionally get a 5-10 second power outage that only knocks out my TV, VCR, analog receiver, my clock radios and my Digital Receiver. All my other VCR's, my Eectric Range and my Microwave stay on. Go Figure!
Will look for a new receiver. Will a 4DTV receiver work as an analog receiver?
Thanks in advice.

According to Wikipedia, 4DTV receivers also handle analog signals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4DTV
Before you buy a new receiver, I strongly suggest that you invest in a uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for your expensive electronics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uninterruptible_power_supply
Good luck!

I finally got my system up and running. I needed a new LNBF. Got a BSC621-2 C/Ku and had it installed. All was working well, but I had to put panneling on the wall where the coax ran through. When I disconnected the wiring I wrote the connections down, but misplaced the paper. When I reconnected the best I could remember, my dish dumped to the east and I got actuator errors. I got the dish to track again, but could not get all satellites to tune in.
Now I get some satellites, but they are really fuzzy or will not tune in properly. My digital channels are still very good (the ones I can get) but I can't get the ku side to come in now.
What are the proper connections for the wiring on the Motorola 450i analog receiver? I only have two bundles, one with three wires (red, white, black) and the other with 2 wires (clear pink transcluent).
Help!
