SciFi will begin the third season of Battlestar Galactica this Friday evening.
It's been a long wait.

So did everyone watch the Webisodes?
I will this week.
I believe they cover a period of Cylon occupation between seasons 2 and 3.

I'm waiting for the last one (there are 10) to release tommorrow before I watch them all (I believe they are one coherent story). Almost a full episode of show right there.
I've seen 6 of them and, you're right, it IS a coherent story. I'll be watching the last few right before I start in on the 2 hour premiere of S3.

Do you think there will be a way to watch these all together, as one video before the premier? That's the way I'd like to see them.
If there is, it'll only be on the website.

Definately watch the webisodes prior to the premiere. It definately helps explain the behavior of various characters.
So what did you folks think of the "new" Battlestar? Its certainly a new way for the show to go. I definately enjoyed it, but I bet some will not be happy, given the political tone (justifying suicide bombers, civilian shields, etc)
But that in my opinion is what good sci-fi is for...examining the world around us using hypothetical situations. A+ television.
And boy, did Apollo let himself go! I wonder if that was intentional, and if the fat is "real" or makeup.

They used a body double for the close up scene in the shower. Imagine the add for that one;
Studio Looking for a man in his 30s, needs to be about 30 or 40 lbs over weight, will be filmed only from the waist to his neck , NO FACE SHOTS and no nudity.
Article I read said that Jamie Barber had to wear a fat suit for the first couple of episodes.

Somewhere... DeNiro is screaming... DON'T do it.... You'll never get your original shape back....
He did use special effects for the fat suit... Hadn't heard whether or not he was gaining weight in real life to match his character...

Ok...I have a little problem with the BSG storyline that has carried over from the end of last season. Right from the beginning, Adama made it very clear that he was in charge of military affairs and fleet movements. The civilian government was to be for civil issues only. He even had the President imprisoned when she meddled with a military operation.
How is it that he simply rolled over and took it up the you know where for Baltar?

Where the colonists want to live is not a military issue. Martial law is not in force. If the civilian fleet wants to land and live on the planet, as long as they are not actually under attack at the time, Adama has nothing to say in the matter.
You notice that once the cylons showed up, It was Adama's call to take the BSG and the Pegasus and jump away.

Exactly... since the cylons had essentially proposed peace and said "we aren't going to chase you anymore" and they had a planet cloaked from detection (or so they thought)... there was no immediate danger, and the decision to settle or not settle was one for the people and not for the military.
Granted, a bad decision... and one apparently almost half the people didn't agree with since it was a close election... but it wasn't a military one.
The rules changed again once the cylons came back and interfered... so now we have a blurred line somewhat. Baltar as the elected president of the colonies actually surrendered and has cooperated... but there is reason to suspect him of treason (as we viewers already know)... so Adama is within his rights to be planning a military rescue.

Better watch them while you can. Hopefully, they will be part of the Season 3 DVD release.
