Is that when either during live broadcasts or recorded shows, that the video would just go black and have no sound for a second or two? According to the new software release notes this has been improved but not completely resolved.

Because I asked my brother last night (he has the H20 (non-DVR)) and he indicated that he has the same problem. Now it would stand to reason that it isn't a software problem if another type of DTV receiver has the same problem. To me it would be a broadcast issue on DTV equipment end.

Any enlightening would be appreciated.

Thanks

What you are describing is more of a broadcast/signal problem (like what is experience during a rainstorm)

The one that is refered to in mulitple threads, is when you hit PLAY on a program, and the recording is just a black screen, or blank.

What most have experienced is a recorded show that is unwatchable. When you go to play all you get is a black screen and you can not FF or anything.

I went home at lunch and the new software has upgraded and NCIS and The Unit which recorded last night and were unwatchable are gone. I set a bunch of stuff to record on CBS tonight as well as my other stations to see if it still happens with the update. so far CBS is the only channel I have had the problem with.

But I'm in CA and I have no rain. At least not right now. It would stand to reason that it is a signal problem being that my brother and I share the same zip code. Should I bother and to call DTV to complain? Most times I call Tier 2 support, I get someone really not that intelligent and I know more than they do, because I read this forum.

If it is happening often... then yes, his dish may need to be tweaked.

there is a thread at the top of the forum that discusses this issue and it really helped me. i had hdmi and i was told to use compenent cables instead. sure enough it worked. what a pain though!

i was using hdmi. and the screen was black this morning. i was told by an expert in this forum to switch to compenent cables. when i did this, my problem was fixed.
but you say you are already using compenent cables? if so i guess your issue is something else- but i am sure it is fixable as all other issues with this seem to be.
