I was away on business for 2 days come back to the new software and now I have picture and audio dropouts mid playback of recordings. The problem is so severe that is has caused my Philips plasma to go into some kind of protect mode twice where I have had to unplug the power the display to get it to come back on. I am using component and spdif I have experienced the problem on both MPEG4 and MPEG2 recording, first was a recording of the unit on my local CBS and the second was a Hogan’s Heroes on HDNET.

In the prior release I would occasionally get a recording that would not play at all, but now I am having these random dropouts where I can't get control of the HR20,my screen goes black, I hear clicking from the display, and it is causing my display to act like it is trying to resync to what ever is happing on the component outputs. This situation is far far worse than prior software release. Does anyone have a contact @ D* I am actually concerned that this release might cause damage to my displays.

Right now I think the HR20 when it starts dropping out, it also doesn't know that to do with the frequency sync and it is bouncing all over the place causing my plasma go into a protect mode. IMO This is a serious problem.

I am going to try setting the HR20 to a fixed resolution vs native mode to see if it stops the display from freaking out and going into a protect mode.

A quick update,

By turning off native resolution mode and having the HT20 set to a fixed resolution , the problem appears to go away. IMO this is a hack to resolve what ever problem is going on with using native mode.

I don't know what they changed in this version of the software but I think the new software gets confused for some reason, perhaps mpeg stream errors, and starts rapidly resyncing on the component output which is causing my display to go in to a protection mode to prevent damage.

This did not happen (at least for me) on the prior release of the software.
