Ok, I tried to replace my H20 through DirecTv and they sent a new box no problem. The issue is that I can not get a strong signal. I have connected 3 differen lines n 2 different H20 boxes. Still a 70-80 signal at best on all signals with the H20's. I can get a 97-100 on my hr-20 or Samsung Hd boxes using the same lines. I do not want to call DirecTv again without more info as to what may cause this.

It is not a line problem, or dish problem as I can tell, because the HR-20 can get a 95-100 signal.

Can anyone give some info here?

You cannot directly compare signal values from one model receiver/DVR to a different model. Those numbers are not really calibrated, and they're not directly comparible.

Are you actually experiencing any reception issues with your H20?

Hello, I have 2 h20's and both show the same thing 70-80 signal. I also have a d11 and 2 phillips receivers that show upper 90's!! The h20's seem to show a lower number. I remember reading a post at directv forums that this is normal and the h20 readings are o.k.(about 20% lower than other receivers) I also switched from a 3lnb dish to a at9 dish with the same results. Only problem I have is no 99 sat signal?? On another post

That is correct. It is normal for the H20 signal to be lower. On my R15, D10 I get signal in the 90's and the H20 it is in the 70's. That is due to the MPEG4 sat signals. I think your receiver is ok.

Since inception AND before mass release the H-20 meters have been worthless as to compare to anything. > the #'s shown are NOT a honest reflection @ all. For that matter the r-15 ALSo shows a slight variation also from any other ird made from D* but only by 4-5 points when compared to the H-20 Drastic diff per the on screen meter and compared to a standard d-11.

If ya have doubts.. or just want proof. take your standard Ird (rec) and hook it up at that same location and watch the 90's appear. check transponder (1)
which is 13 volt and then Trans #2 which is 18 v on the 101 and see what ya see.. I bet ya REST afterwards.. he he. (wink)

So..OP> your H-20 IS fine.. and to be honest so prob was the other one Too.
