New Sub? What do they get?

Got a buddy who just ordered Dirtectv service and got a 4 room system with a HD DVR...Is he getting the new HR20-700 or the HR10-250...We're in Oklahoma City and do not have the locals on MPEG-4 yet. Hell Cox cable just dropped the local ABC digital feed because the company that owns ABC wants more money. No FOX or ABC on cable and if he gets the HR20-700 he gets no HD because the tuner is disabled...What's UP???

There's no way to tell. It depends on what the installers have available. HR-10s are no longer in production and the stock will run out one of these days. In the long run he'll probably need the HR-20 anyway (and OTA will be enabled long before then).

I haven't heard of anyone getting an HR10 in a long time, unless they found one at a retailer or emphatically asked for one.

I just think it's bs that Directv is sending out the HR20's with the off-air tuner disabled. For those of us in smaller to mid size markets with older tv's that don't have a digital tuner and for those of us that aren't flippin loaded it's really frustrating...
