In a quick look around the threads I never saw a description of the problem I'm having with my 622. Sometimes when I turn on the my HD TV (connected through HDMI) I'll have lost most of the horizontal sync on the picture resulting in a magenta and blue partial image that cycles left to right. The only solution I've found is to reset the 622. I'm somewhat used to resetting the 622, but today I noticed that TV2 (in SD on an RF connection) still has a decent picture. Another oddity today was that after the first reset the 622 booted up but never returned an image, it took a second boot to get back (I think this happened once before).

I tried the Dish web site and found nothing specific, called their support and I must have left the scripted problems as the guy there was stuck on repeating the 2 issues it kind of sounded like but wasn't. So - I'm here. Anyone with a solution?

I'd connect the 622 to TV1 with RCA, S-video, or component as well as HDMI to verify that you only have a problem with HDMI. You'll find many threads about problems with the HDMI connector on the 622 so I wouldn't use that end of the HDMI cable to test whether the picture comes back by unplugging the HDMI cable from the TV and then plugging it back in. If HDMI connectors are fragile, that isn't a good fix but it would tell you if resetting the HDMI connection gets an HDMI image to the TV w/o resetting the 622.

Before L3.63 and L3.65 I had a similar “non-sync” problem with my Philips LCD flat panel. I’m fairly certain the problem was a HDMI handshake issue. My work-around was to always turn on (bring out of standby) the 622 before turning on the Philips display.

Your problem is an HMDI hand shake issue on TV1 so it has no effect on the picture for TV2. I had the issues with my Moxi box from Charter. Easiest solution, just use component and then you don't have to worry about handshake issues.
