Hello,
I currently have 3 powered 4x8multiswitches that are cascading to supply lines to the rooms in the house. Right now, I have 2 HD tivo receivers, a few sd tivo receivers, and 1 standard receiver (that will probrably be replaced by a sd dvr soon).
My question is, since they are replacing my 2 HD tivo's with HR-20's (1 downstairs, 1 upstairs) and they are not compatible with my current multiswitch set up, what will they replace the 3 multiswitches with?
I would prefer powered multiswitches (like I have now), as opposed to not powered. I have had bad luck with installers not having the proper equipment in the past when coming, so just want to either buy it myself or make sure they bring it with them.
If there's more information needed to help, please just say so. I appreciate the help.

Right now installers are only supplying PASSIVE Zinwell WB68
The only compatible powered ones are the Zinwell 16 port ($200), and the Spaun 12 and 16 port (around $500).
You can do what I do.... have the Zinwell WB68 installed... take 4 outputs of it to your existing multiswitche's setup, then take the other 4 feeds to your HR20s.
The powered multiswitches will give enough power to the passive one to get the 101, 110, 119 sats... the HR20's combined will easily give you enough power for the 99 and 103

So if I'm understanding you correctly, of the 3 4x8 switches I have now that are powered, I simply need to just replace the 1st multiswitch with the zinwell 6x8, and use the other 2 as they are now, and all would work fine?

How are the other two connected to your 1st multiswitch.
Are you using all 8 connections?
If so, then no... you would install the Zinwel WB68 (Basically adding a 4th multiswitch)... feed 4 lines of it to your first existing multiswitch (and not changing anything on that side).
How many connections are you ultimately going to be using? Maybe we can figure out a more eligant solution for you. 12 or less we can get away with just two multiswitches.

all in all, there are a total of 12 lines needed for all the rooms combined. 7 lines for the receivers downstairs, and 5 for the receivers upstairs. However I do plan to add another dvr or two upstairs, replacing the standard receivers...so the upstairs I would like to have 7 as well so that when the time comes i don't have to do any other messing around.

Also, I do have an ota antenna that I use as well, that I did not include in the above.

Since this is a good topic to add to...
I had the 3 LNB dish feeding 4 lines into a powered 4x8, and 4 of those lines
receivers upstairs and the other four fed another powered 4x8 feending my main floor and basement. Everything in the world was good.
Since the installer has been to my house, I now have the Ka/Ku dish feeding
4 power passing splitters and those 4 splitters feed 2 non powered zinwell 4x8s.
Since the install guy left, I only get the 101 signal. He checked with his little tool
and it shows I have a 90 something signal on the 110/119, it just won't pass
through the setup for some reason......
Any help would be appreciated. I have already swapped out the splitters and
that didn't help.
Each splitter is assigned to a port on the multiswitches and the lines all match up.
I was supposed to have them out yesterday but they never showed, and now
I am supposed to wait until tomorrow.
