When you reset the entire machine and you have to start over (new set up, new history etc.) what happens to the software updates? They have disapeared from the history as well.

Will they resend them? Are they still there? Do I have to do something?

Pretty sure the software update should remain after a complete format. If your box doesn't have the latest software update, it will download it automatically.
