Help Getting the Hook Ups Right

Thank you in advance for any help you give me. I have tried explain my trouble on the phone but very hard to explain without a picture. I am wanting to get the very best hook up I can for my system. I have every type of cable made I think. The main trouble I am having is getting my DVD HD Recorder to find a signal from the VIP622 Receiver. There is also an older Dish Receiver in the home hooked up on it's own cable system if that might be a factor. I made drawing of the inputs and outputs hopefully someone can tell me how best connect them. I have drawing I made at site geneband.net/hookup/system3.jpg

Good drawing. WRT the DVD recorder, your best video input (as illustrated) is the S-Video. SO, I would hook the Dish TV1 S-video output to the DVD recorder S-video input, and TV1 L-R audio to DVD recorder L-R input.

For best sound, Dish TV1 digital optical OUT to the digital optical IN of the Sony receiver, and from there to your speakers.
