ATI XT800 and DTV HD box

I have an ATI All-N-Wonder XT800 video card in my computer, I ordered a regular HD box from Direct TV to connect to it so I could create my own DVR. I am having problems getting it hooked up. I guess my first question is will this setup work?

Unless things have changed, the ATI is inherently a DVR. On the other hand, you cannot record in HD.
