On Saturday, August 10, 2002, I started watching the Arizona Cardinals vs the San Diego Chargers on Channel 653 Fox Sports Net West 2 at 10:00 pm. At approximately 10:20pm the screen went blank and the message at the bottom of the screen said "This program is not available in your area. Look for alternative programming."

I am on the east coast and this game was played on the west coast.

Can someone tell me why the game was blacked out in my area? I could have understood the blackout if the Buffalo
Bills were playing, my home team, but they weren't.

I called Directv and talked to some guy named Rick a Customer Service Rep. who snickered and said, "Well it just blacked out. Do you have the NFL Sunday package? I said yes. (I know that had no affect on preseason games, but he didn't.) I don't know why and I don't care." I got so fed up with his attitude I hung up on him!!

Thanks for any information.

Preseason games on FSN are blacked out, if other then home team, but there are no blackouts on preseason games on distant nets and supers. For example, the Rams/Titans and Patriots/Giants games were on KWGN and WWOR, respecivly, both games are black out free

Steve, as far as FSN games are concerned, it depends on which provider you have and sometimes which game.

The Superstations are KTLA and WWOR.
BTW: KTLA was blacked out on C band.
