Anyone get their HR20 from the 10/9 shipment from VE?

All I know is that the HR20 is in such high demand... Employee sales have been halted, and production has been increased significantly.

didn't D* learn anything from the HR10 launch? i don't understand how they couldn't see something like this coming.

I think they did....

But you get to a point that you can only have so many built and sitting around.... I just think the unit is still in MORE demand faster then even they expected.

Ask Sony, Microsoft, and even Nintendo..... Even with all their experience, they still managed to not have enough at launch and are in short supply the first few months.

Ummmm, I think you have to take into account the exchanges(sometimes multiple). There are some just on this forum that have had 2 or even 3 replacements. Unless they are packaging up the returns and shipping them back out, that puts a dent in the old inventory.

I would say they expected a lot more resistance from the Tivo crowd to get the HR20 because it's "not a Tivo". They were plesently suprised I'm sure not to see too much of that. You do see it but many diehard Tivo users are at least giving it a try.

In any case you just never know what the demand for something like this might bring. They can only estimate.

Robert e-mailed me stating that the supply chain is empty til November. :( That D* is holding up shipment until they fix the existing problems... I have my second one on order thru VE.

If you check the Best Buy site they are not even taking orders -- says coming soon..

Right now 2 Best Buy's in the Denver area show in stock.

Part of the problem could also be allocated to the fact that many people who ordered one HR20 actually received TWO (me included!).

I think this was an error in the ordering process, as I was only charged for one. The second was on the work order, so I took it and no-one mentioned it when they were activated.

We're now looking at 11/15 as earliest ship date for the HR20. DTV really dropped the ball on this, I put my order in 5 weeks ago. :nono2:

Just too many people wanted it and they didn't have enough. I'm sure DirecTV didn't expect so many Tivo people actually wanting the box with all the "you'll pry my Tivo from my cold dead hands" talk over the past few months. But that's hasn't been the case.

The HR10 had pretty limited supply it's first couple months as well. Just the nature of the business.

with all the posts about stock being back in stores, hopefully we'll see a shipment this week. 3 month wait was unacceptable DTV.
