Brand new SD-DVR40... worth it?

I can get a brand new one (new in box) for $19.95. Is it worth it to have as a spare for my R10? It is fully hackable right and the USB ports can be enabled for wireless networking?

What software version is on these things?

That's a very good, hackable unit. If it's new it's probably got some 3.1.1 version running on it. The current version for that unit is 6.2. You can get that by connecting the unit to a phone line for a while and it will download 6.2 or you can find the 6.2 slices floating around the 'net with a search.

I'm not sure but InstantCake may have it. I've never used IC so I could be wrong on that.

I believe Instant Cake does put 6.2 on as a new image. Can anybody confirm this?
