Dish Home on 301

I have the latest software on my 301's but no Dish Home, anyone else having this issue. I finally got the upgrade on my 501. Not that Dish Home is a must have, it's the pricipal of the thing.

I think that the 301 Dish Home won't be out for another few more months. I was mentioned in the 8/12 Technical chat.

Dishhome won't be activated until September. They didn't mention either early September or late September, or even which year. :)

According to an email I got from them, it will be available by the end of the summer (August?).

I just installed one today that had it. I think the software version was P173 or P174

Sometime in the past three days my 301 received the P174 spool which included Dish Home.

For those of you who have received 174 already, how is the speed of Dish Home? And if you also have a 50x how does the speed of the 301 compare to it for Dish Home apps?

I have dish home on one of my two 301's Not sure when I got the upgrade.

Steve, I got 174 last week sometime on my 301 and it is pretty slow. I don't have a 50x to compare. Unless there is some compelling information that I cannot get through other, quicker, means then I think that I will skip it all together.

Customer Service App is only app I found worthwhile, but would rather look up my account on Internet. Only benefit of Dish Home is for those who do not have any internet access. It is quicker for me to run downstairs, boot the PC and get the info than do Dish Home

How do I force an upgrade, at least something between P157 and P174? I am stuck with P157, and turning it off doesn't seem to make it want to upgrade. I want DisHome, on my 301, but the stupid thing doesn't upgrade. "September". Sure. I'll believe that. Hey, newsflash, CHARLIE, September is almost over. Where's my friggin' DisHome?!

It's funny how I went through this earlier this year with my 3900. One day I came home and it was on there. Now I hardly ever look at it. I know, it's the principle of the thing. I wanted to decide if it was something I would use. Now I know.

Do you have the "Upgrade Without my permission" set ? If you don't, it won't update until Dish decides to force a mandatory update.

I have the without my permisson set. and have just in the last couple of days started turning the power off at night and while I am at work and it is on a phone line if that matters.

Then there's not much else you can or need to do - when it becomes time for your unit to get upgraded, it will, and not before... They usually get upgraded in batches depending on serial numbers.

Yes, Without Permission is enabled... is there a way to know what serial number range(s) have received it?

I vaguely recall reading somewhere that it was by location ID, not serial number, not that it matters. Mine hasn't been upgraded yet, either. I'm real curious, but not desperate. It's just something else to play with. I'm awful bored of "Instant Weather" :-)

Well, we're well into October, and still no Dish Home on my 301. I noticed that I still have PPV entries going back to August that haven't been cleared. Is there any chance that the receiver wouldn't accept an upgrade as long as PPV hasn't been cleared? You know, like it was smart enough to make sure it didn't accidentally wipe out stuff you needed to be billed for? Not likely, I realize, but it also makes me wonder what takes it so long to clear (and bill) PPV records (not that there's any hurry).

it doesn't clear your PPV purchases until you plug it into a phoneline and do a dialout.

No dish home on my two 301 receivers also. If you look carefully on Dish Network's site, it now says it will be the winter before all 301 receivers will have Dish Home.

To provide a bit of relief to all of us w/o DishHome on our 301s, according to the TechForum Summary, all remaining OpenTV receivers will receive the DishHome update 11/19/02. Which is today. <runs and turns off receiver>
