Need Info. on CW Network on Directv

O.K., I just tried calling Direct to get an answer, but all the CSR wanted to do is order me recievers even though I explained three times I wanted information on programming and was not ready to order anything. Think I was just two questions shy of actually having a Direct installer standing on my front porch tomorrow. :mad: Finally hung up and it was obvious I was not going to get any information from her and I was not ready to order anything yet.
Does anyone here have distant networks from Direct(NY or LA) and does Direct provide a CW affliate (the new named network that has Gilmore Girls) to those that qualify for Distants. I can't see anywhere's in their channel listing where they offer a CW station. With four females in the house, the lack of the CW network is a deal buster. Got to add also that if my first call to Direct is a sign of things to come then I may need to rethink this whole switch to Direct too. Damn, can't even get a simple programming question answered

Minnow, try a search for "CW" (if you haven't already) I seem to remember it has been discussed that D* is in negotiations for th HD version previously.

No, the only Distant Networks are CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox from NY and/or LA. There's also a national PBS feed if you qualify.

Thanks to all for your info. As I was looking at the web site, I was a little confused on the number of distants I could get. The site said if qualified one can get two analog or one digital choice. Now does that mean I can get both the NY and LA net's if I choose the analog and if I chose HD, I have to choose either NY or LA ? Or does Direct choose for me depending on which coast I live on ?

minnow, from your posts on other subjects, I could swear you live in the Watertown market?

If you live in a market where DirecTV does not serve local channels and you qualify for distant networks, unfortunately CW does not come with an option.

However, if you seriously need to keep a CW feed, you could literally downgrade to the CW superstations on Dish Network and get the rest of your programming from DirecTV.

Hadn't thought of that. Personally, I could care less about CW but I'm just a small cog in this estrogen laden clan. :grin: How low of a programming package can one go with E* ? With the distants going off my bill, switching to Direct for everything else, my E* bill would be like $6 bucks.

If you only keep one superstation, it would be $1.50 for the superstation and another $5 for an active fee per month, because you fall below the qualifying package.

I had Dish's Superstation package just to get WB and UPN. But, with the merger it is a waste of money. So for my CW fix I now use BitTorrent.

Why is D* transmitting the analog signal of any of these channels? I am sure NY and LA have SD locals. :mad:

Is this why locals on D*look so much worse than digital local channels OTA?:confused:

Actually the access fee has been $6 for about a year now... ;) ;)
