What is the best deal anyone has gotten when upgrading?

I own 2 HR10-250 tivos and would like to upgrade because CBS ota is still in VHF and has poor signal strength. I understand I need to upgrade to get my CBS local.
I called Directv and ask them about the new upgrade and was told that I would have to pay $99 per receiver.Has anyone gotten a better deal.Its not my fault they have to upgrade their system.

Trade my Sony HD300 and HR10-250 in for H20 and HR20 boxes....which they show as I own..not lease. Free 5 LNB dish upgrade and installation. I did have to pay the $99x2 for the units on VISA but they credited to my account. Call customer retention department....not customer service. 800-824-9081

A few tips for the wise. Over the last 18months, I received 3 R15s, HD TIVO, HR20 with KaKu dish. Ive helped family and friends get H20, R10, D10, HR20 and SD Tivo. out of those items the only cost was paying shipping and handling----once. The others were gratis. I also have received free HD for one year, $50 bucks for OTA antenna, $20/mo off Platnium/Premiere pack. It helps that Ive had D since 1994( $800 bucks for Sony system at Sears), but I have a few tips.

First, see what a "regular" CSR will offer. Tell them you've been tempted by cable/Dish. Tell them there offer is too expensive...how much to cancel so you can go to cable/dish. This will usual get you transferred to retention.

Tell retention you wanted info on the "committment" because you've got the guy from Dish calling you everyday with a great offer and you want to cancel.

Do you're homework. Find out the latest offers from cable/Dish.

Just be polite and make sure that even though youre thinking about cancelling, you really love D and would hate to go. ( "gee I'd miss the sunday ticket, but a free HD DVR from comcast sure beats $299. guess i could watch at sports bar).
