I can already hear the snickering from TNGTony about this...

I've got a RCA Model F20632SE/Chassis #CTC186A television manufactured in June, 1998. Can anyone tell me how to access the hidden menu so that I can adjust the picture heigth/width/position.

Also, I noticed two knobs in the back. RTFM-ed, and there is no notation, nor are these knobs labeled. The top knob is apparently focus, and the bottom may be brightness. (Hmmmm.... there is also a brightness menu option).

Believe it or not, I found some information...

WARNING! Be aware that you modify the settings at your own risk. If you don't know what you're doing, you can really mess things up.

Some of this was found at http://members.accessus.net/~090/awh/how2adj.html#5.4, but the basics are:

Press and hold MENU
Press POWER
Press VOL+
P00 and V00 will be displayed (left and right sides of screen)
Release MENU
Press VOL+ to set V00 to V76
Press CH+ to select and adjustment that you want to change ( “P00” )
Press VOL+ and VOL- to adjust

P03 adjusts the Horiz Center
P05 Adjust the Vent Center
P06 Adjusts the Vert Size

Next question - is there a way to adjust overscan on a 27" Mitsubishi from 1994? It's a model CS27-something (I forgot the rest of it, I'll look when I remember to) Maybe you could do that research for me? I found a menu with some settings for how XDS is displayed, along with scarier things like "E2RESET" (I think that's EEPROM reset - I don't want to touch that accidentally!) and "Hotel Mode". I messed with the XDS settings and was able to improve that a little. I also found a seperate set of adjustments for "sub color" and "sub tint" and this was able to help me tune the color a little. But nothing for size, which is what I really wish to adjust. Thanks for any help!

It took me two hours of searching through Google just to get the above information. What helps is the model number, model make, and chassis #.

Z'Loth -

I have the same TV in my bedroom and have been wanting to adjust the overscan as you have. Thanks for the info!

From what I have found those two knobs in the back are focus and "Picture" or contrast. I usually leave the focus knob alone but use the contrast knob in conjunction with a picture reset from the menu.

I've actually adjusted the focus so the picture looks a little better now. For the actual picture, I haven't figured out which P control controls the horizontal width. I used a screen from Video Essentials to set the screen. One or two minor tweaks, and everything is OK.

Now, if I had more than just the blue filter....

Saw that page already. I don't know what "Bias" and "Drive" do, so, I'm not touching those. It's entirely possible that the internal menus have changed. Remember, the manufacturers do NOT want us in those menus for a reason.
