FX labors with '24' marathon run
Aug. 15, 2002

FX will warm up viewers for the second season of Fox's real-time drama "24" with a real-time 24-hour marathon of the acclaimed series' first season. Fox's cable sibling will run the 24 one-hour episodes of the Imagine TV/20th Century Fox TV show's first season over 24 consecutive hours beginning midnight Sunday, Sept. 1, and ending at midnight Labor Day, Sept. 2. The marathon will mirror the 24-hour day in the life of Counter Terrorism Unit agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland).

If a show was ever tailor-made for DVRs, this is it.

Record all 24 episodes, then watch them in about 18 hours after you've skipped the commercials.

Hmmm, should I record each show seperately, or set-up a manual recording and have it as 1 huge file ? My Philips DirecTiVo says 106 hours max (really about 80-85) with plenty of empty space right now...

Decisions, decisions

I should have enough room, but need to clear out a couple of programs.

Plan on "chunking" the series so that it's several files instead of one.

Chunk 1 was 2 hours long. Chunk 2 is going to be 8 hours long,

I have never watched this show before, but I think there is a great chance that I might get hooked after watching a few episodes today. I guess I need to update my D-VHS to a PVR.

Okay, Chunk 3 was completed. On chunk4.

(And, if you're wondering why I'm recording in "chunks", I'm using the manual record function to break the marathon in pieces, or chunks. Once I'm done, I can discard a chunk, freeing up room on my 501)

Of course, this may cause me to get 24 on DVD on September 17th.... along with Monsters, Inc.
