Hi, all, I finally had my AT9 dish installed yesterday and activated my HR20. I do have two (for now) questions....

My install thread: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?p=708429#post708429

First, I only had a couple of hours to mess w/ the HR20 last night, but I couldn't find a way that I could control the HR20, power on and off the TV, and control my surround sound recevier's volume and mute. Is there a way to do this without having to switch from the DirecTV to AV1 or AV2 at the top of the remote? I know w/ the TiVo remote on the HR10-250, I could control the TiVo, the TV's power, and the SS receiver's volume and mute all at the same time. Is this not possible anymore?

Secondly, my 99 sat says "NA." My installer told me this was always the case and that there is nothing to worry about because there's nothing but international programming on there anyway. Is this true, or get I get hosed?

Thanks! I'm glad to be a contributor to this forum in the future rather than only a passive reader. Its fun to be on the bleeding edge of new technology, even if there are growing pains.

99 is for locals and certain RSN's, you should see that satellite after the HR20 updates from the preinstalled software to 0xe3. If you want to use a universal remote other then the RC24 or RC34, then you will have to buy a generic one, that has the features you described you want.

99, just like 103 is full of spot beams. Some of these spot beams are visible in parts of the country, some aren't.

It is completely normal to have 99 say N/A, if you a 103 SB market and vice versa.

As for your AV receiver, please tell me you don't have a Yamaha. I've had to order RC32 remotes for customers who wanted to control Yamaha receivers and even then, had to do a code search due to the fact that none of the preprogrammed codes worked.

Wait a sec! Reread your post again. Are you saying that the remote is currently programmed to run your AV receiver but you just want to be able to control the volume, mute etc. without changing modes?

That one is an easy fix.

My HR20 remote works fine for controlling the volume and mute on my Yamaha receiver (HTR-5960). There's a thread somewhere in this forum that explains the procedure and which code to use perfectly. It's probably been dumped several pages back by now, but it's around somewhere.

Of course, my new Harmony remote is even better. :)

That's exactly what I want to do.

You can't have a single key power all your devices, but you can puch-through the AUD vol to all devices: first there needs to be a tv code programmed to the tv device, then:

1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press SELECT

1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press SELECT

Can you clarify ... if I do this, will this make it so that the volume up and down keys always control my audio receiver, no matter what mode the remote is in?

yes, even tv device too. But you wish to just restore the tv vol only to the tv device, you can do the following too:

1. TV
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-3
4. press VOL DOWN
