R15-500 Vs. R15-100

I have had R15-500's and now D* was bringing me a new R15. Turns out it is an R15-100. All I can think is this thing seems cheap compared to the R15-500.

What are the differences just mfg?

The fan is a lot more powerful in the 100 model, and as far as I can tell, runs at all times.

My 100 changes channels and navagates the menus quicker than my 500, also, but that might just be my units.

My wifes friend just had Directv installed today, I had to meet the installers at her house today because she had to work, they brought a R15-100 and a D11-100.
I noticed the fan as well had alot more power than the R15-500 that I have. Didnt go thru it but for just a second to see any differences.
