My 622 installation supports the use of separators. I have one at the 622 and another at a 721.
My question is, can I use an additional separator to drive an older SD receiver (a 508)? The idea would be to split an already split feed at the 622 with one leg going to the 622 and the other to the 508.

Seperators don't work like that. It would be nice, but they don't.
The DP Plus Separator was specially-designed to
separate the single cable’s 950-1450 MHz band
and the 1650-2150 MHz band, for the single cable
to two tuner “bandtranslating” technology.

Thanks for the answer. You've undoubtedly saved me a good deal of downstreat frustration.
