sub channels on the guide

Just picked up the H20 (none dvr) and in the guide underneath each of my local channels (east coast) there are sub channels 2, 2-1, 4, 4-1,4-2, 7, 7-1,7-2, etc. what are the sub channels and should there be something associated with them? When I try to watch them, it's blank. H20/3 LNB antenna. Thanks. BTW these subchannels do not appear on the HR20 guide.

The 2-1 4-1 4-2 ect

Are channels that come in via OTA.
So unless you have an OTA antenna setup... you will not receive any of those stations.
