Rather thin announcement ....
"The new product for DirecTV is capable of receiving signals from up to five satellites and enables reception of video programming broadcast in both the Ka-band and the Ku-band. "

Don't the current AT9 and SlimLine dishes already do this?

Does this mean there is a third Ka/Ku dish? Or is it their version of the "slimline"?

The release is very vague. Not at all clear what they're actually announcing, and if there's really anything new.

This thread needs to be moved to "General Satellite Discussion", since the news applies to both D* and E*.

Has anyone heard if this will solve the weak 129 signal in the PNW, removing the necessity for a second dish? Is Dish still going to call this equipment the Dish1000+, or are they going to give it a separate designation?

I like the built-in auxiliary port feature, since I may someday want to add a 148 feed to the basic 110-119-129 service.
