I don't know if this has been asked before. I was unable to find a thread about it. But has anyone noticed white specks, spots or snow on any picture that has black in it? Could be black backgrounds or something in the picture just has black in it.

This does not seem to happen all the time but it does happen quite regularly. At first I was thinking it was my tv or the receiver but I noticed this on all my receivers and I also noticed it at a friends house who just got DTV installed.

Yes, I've seen that also. Most notably on Food Network (231). I've noticed it's not on A&E during the same time so seems to be some channel/SAT/Transponder think. I've been going to look into it closer but haven't had time. When you see it it's really quite annoying.

I am glad to see it is not just me. Some people on the Dtv forum said it was due to bad hdmi cable or cable to close to an outlet. I do not agree with that since I see it on all 2 of my tvs and 2 are coax and 1 is hdmi. Plus the fact that it happens at my friends also.

I think there is some issue at dtv with their feeds.

What receivers are you seeing this on? What channels?

I have seen it on food network mainly. I will have to check some of the other to see if I notice it on others.

This is on an old rca receiver , a phillips tivo and also my hr-20. So it is on all different ones.

I haven't had time to look at all of these, but if this is a transponder problem, based on Food Network (SAT 101 Transponder 1) the following channels should also show the same white spots:

FoodTV - 231
Fox Reality - 250
Logo - 263
History - 269
Baby First - 293
Nick Toons - 302
GSN - 309
Spike - 325
GAC - 326
CMT - 327
VH1 - 335 NRB - 378
TEN - 596
XM Village - 813
XM - 842
XM - 847
XM - 854

Those are all on 101-1. I plan on checking them, but the paying job demands my time at this point.

I have been seeing this for a few weeks now on several channels. I am seeing it on Fox, episode of House opening scene is perfect example, dark scene this one looked like snow flakes. It's got to be the signal because I noticed on another TV as well during football!

What could this be?

I've seen this on TNT and it's not a HDMI issue since I can also see it via a S-video connection.
