i get this funny feeling that the source of all the problems in the R15 AND HR20 is the "game lounge" and D*'s love of interactive features. there was an article with an exec a few weeks backs..all he could talk about were interactive features...damn him...
Imagine all the resets when Game Lounge goes live:(

I heavily doubt middleware and interactive feature development is the source of all of the DirecTV branded reciever's problems.

I don't, Sunday when watching NFLST I would switch from a 700 channel to a local by typing the number, it would just type my first number twice, ex: if I was on 705 and typed 27, it would enter 22 of if I did 62 it would show 66. Plus it is slow as crap turning from 1 NFLST channel to another.

As far as I know, as of today.
The Game Lounge is not launching today.
I don't have any new information on when we may expect it.

I wouldn't doubt that Game Lounge will be rolling out around January.
Is there a preview of what the channel will be like running in a video loop on channel 110?

Earl is this the same thing as gamestar and they just changed the name, in an annual report last year they talked about gamestar being launched. i'm not talking about the gaming series they had on showcase. this is an actual service so we could play video/pc games from our receiver.

oh darn..from the gamelounge FAQ:
" Will my set-top box work with Game Lounge?
Yes, if you have a D10-100 model. If you're not sure, tune to Channel 110 and you will either go to the main ordering screen or receive a message. By early 2007, the R15 (PLUS), D10-200/300 and D11 series will be able to carry Game Lounge. By the summer of 2007, interactive high definition boxes (H20 and HR20) will be ready. Unfortunately, TIVO® receivers do not support Game Lounge service."

I can see why they would want to test the service out on the MYRIAD of D10-100 owners. It shouldn't be long until everything gets to use it like the FAQ said.

This is an opinion of course, but why would anyone want to play Solitare or any other game from their TV? If they want games on thier couch so bad, go buy a cheap laptop running Linux and play whatever games you want. OK, rant over.

Who knows (but no one would get a cheap laptop that runs Linux to play games on there TV that I know), but it makes money for E*. And if you go to the main GameLounge site, the games have a lot of neat features.
