I ordered my HR20 from Directv earlier this week and they set up the install for Nov 26, 2006. I picked the 8AM to Noon installl option.

The installer called the house at about 7:45 and said he would be there on time. He showed up on-time and took a quick look at my installtion. Since I already had aDirectv Tivo, he said all he need to to do was install a new bigger dish. He said he could use the existing coax connections.

He removed the old mast and dish, installed the new bigger dish and support brackets, and aimed the dish. He came inside, looked at my installation, disconnected the old Directv Tivo and connected the HR20. He installed some filters on my inputs (Directv SUP-2400 B-Band Converter (BBC) Module) for Ka-Lo band up-conversion.

When he fired up the HR20 and my Panasonic PT-50LC13 there was no signal. He checked and the signal was good from the dish to the filters, but nothing was coming thru the filters. He removed the filters and everything worked.

I programed the remote and althoug the volume control works, I can not turn off the TV using the Directv remote. I tried all three of the suggsted codes when programming the remote, but none of them would turn off the TV using the either the one "Power" button or the small Off and ON buttons on the remote. The only thing that wil power doen is the HR20.

Caller ID says I should contact my phone company to sign up for the CallerID service. I already have CallerID and my house phone displays CallerID infor for incoming calls.

Overall I would say my install went quite well. The installer was on time and the complete install took less than one hour.

My picture looks great and even the wife can tell the difference between standard TV and HD.

Anyone know anything about the filters he tried to install? He left them here and said I would need them when Directv fires up some additional satellites.

Those "B-Band Converters" will be required to properly receive DirecTV's new Ka-band satellite signals sometime in 2007. If they're defective, insist on getting new ones so you'll have them when they're required next year.

The Caller ID bug is well-known in the HR20.
