501 getting louder and louder

My 501 keeps getting louder when the hard drive is spinning, which of course is all the time. I think the bearings might be failing. Anybody else have this problem and can I oil the bearings?

Nothing to oil - Probably should watch everything then get the unit swapped under warranty.

There have been some reports with problems with the hard drive in the 501. My suggestion would be to call Dish now and have the unit replaced before it fails. That way you won't be without your Dish waiting for a new unit.

Also, when you call them, try to talk to them about waiving the fee to return the unit (I think it's $14.95).

What is the warranty for the 501? I already have had one unit fail and this is the replacement.

The Warranty is 1 year but you can purchase an extended warranty from Dish for a $1.99 a month.
