I was just wondering why it is taking Directv so long to get the HR20 STB. I've been on the so called waiting list going on 5 weeks now and have not heard a peep from Directv yet. As a satellite provider would it not make sense that you can provide the appropriate STB that the customer desires. Just my opinion. Doesn't make business sense to me.

You should call DirecTV. Several folks here have reported that HR20's are available again.

They did not realize how much of a demand there was going to be for the new box so they did not have enough of them built. So now they are playing catch up.

As Litz recommends - do call D*. Several weeks ago I signed-up on the waiting list for my second unit and received a call no more than three days later saying I should call D* and arrange for an installation date. - The fact that the installer blew the date and I had to reschedule is for another discussion.......

My neighbor was having an H20 installed, and the installer said he had several HR20's in the van. (He also screwed up the install, and told me the H20 came with an HDMI cable, which it didn't, so maybe he was lying.)

I was on the list for 3 or 4 days for 2nd hr20 before they called and told me to call for installation.

Quit waiting for DIRECTV. Check the local stores in your area.

When I wanted to get the HR20 I walked into Best Buy and 3 minutes later I had one in my hand.

DirecTV definitely has them in stock somewhre.

I have a dead HR10 and have been trying to get it replaced with another HR10.
Over the last 3 weeks, DTV has sent me 6 HR20s... I returne all of them... just
got off the phone with DTV and they're going to try again to see if I can get the
a refurbished HR10.

My local BestBuy also has at least a dozen HR20s in stock when I was there on Sunday.

The Best Buy where I bought my new HDTV the other day didn't have the HR20 in stock, so I'm on DirecTV's waiting list. The person I spoke to when I ordered the upgrade seemed to think it would only take a few days.

Forget Best Buy and D*.

Do you have Costco's in NY? I recall there are some in Mass. Drive a bit and pick one up. There are plenty here in some CA stores...

Like many others, I have a 10-250 sitting around I can pass on to you. Get in touch and we can work out something for shipping. 'charles@indieshop.org'

I checked store availability for the Atlanta area on Best Buy's website and it showed HR20s available at one store. When I called, however, they said they didn't have it in stock. I'm going to try placing an order to have it shipped from the warehouse.

For those on the DirecTV waiting list, you can get the HR20 from Best Buy's website, even though most of their stores don't have it in stock. I ordered one Sunday night with 2-day shipping ($22 extra), it shipped from the warehouse in Ohio on Tuesday, and I got it yesterday by UPS. I had to call in to their tech support to get it working, but the tech was very helpful and it's working just fine now.

The HDMI, which was working with the non-DVR HD receiver, doesn't work on the HR20, so I'm using the component cables for now, but I don't see any difference in picture quality.

As others have reported, just tell them you got a call. They will place the order. There is no code or special number to call back to order. Just call the regular number and tell them you got a call.

You have got to be kidding... no checks and balances in place to ensure that you actually got the call?

That's hilarious...

Actually, I ended up picking mine up locally at Best Buy...

I was just making the comment (and confirmation) that I have been on the waiting list for weeks without a call coming through...

i think it really just depends on who you talk to in cust serv and your acct standing and history. i've had no problems getting my hr20 and actually kept putting it off, even though d* kept offering it. i finally got it installed today and the installer told me that they were running "somewhat" low on receivers, but definitely not on 5lnb dishes. i mentioned that about the dish b/c i noticed someone here had mentioned that they were told there were no more dishes. he laughed at that and said whoever said that straight out lied.

I just tried to order the HR20 on-line and, after a bit of digging, it turns out that I can't order the HR20 on-line.

But it appears that there is no option to merely order the 5 LNB dish.

If I buy the HR20 locally, can I get the 5LNB dish installed without having to get the non-DVR box?

Many people have said that you can just call DTV and they will come out and do the install including the new dish. Your best bet would be to give them a call ahead of time though just to be sure.

I purchased an HR20 from circuitcity.com. I paid for the $22 express shipping and it will get here tomorrow. I placed the order late Friday so it didn't ship out until last night from Memphis.

*UPDATE* It's been delivered! Man it's going to be a long day until I can get back home to play with it. :(

I have been on the waiting list that was sponsored by this forum since August 22, 2006 and still waiting (I just found the original email from DBSTalk). Don't hold your breath.

How do you know when they pull up your info on the computer it does not note if you were actually called or not?

It doesn't matter now that they are taking orders from anyone (until they run out again, at least).

I just got off the phone with a SR. Supervisor with Retention and she is sending me 2 HR20's and they are not on back order any more. I have to wait till the installer can come and "professionally " install it on Jan 12th though.

On Wednesday, I picked up one of the two HR20-700S's at the Best Buy in Pasadena.

I was surprised to find an HDMI cable in the box.

I have been reading the board and recently joined, I appreciate all the information. I received a call from DTV last night and was told the H20's are now available, I also received a good offer on the H20 and new dish, along with an installation date.
The DTV agent told me they now have plenty of availability, so perhaps the wait is past.
Thanks for the information everyone!

Just call the main number and tell them you got a call.

There is no special number or code you must give them.

They have them in stock now.

The priority list has been removed from the web site.

Yes. I'm still learning all the product codes. BTW, I will be connecting the HR20 to the same Panasonic 50' you have.

I received a call back in the begining of December saying that my HD/dvr has finally arrived, after waintin about a month for it. We scheduled an appointment for the other day and sat home all day long, waiting for the D.TV. people to install my hd/dvr. Guess what no one showed up, everytime I called the computers were down and I just kept getting the run-around. The next day we called and we were told that we were not in the computer to thave the hd-dvr installed, (funny got a phone call confirming the appointment the night before). Now it turns out that they no-longer have my box available, that I have been waiting for since the begining of December and that they will not have new equiptment available until sometime in February (maybe), I am sorry spomeone in that company messed up big time. They proceeded to offer me everything under the sun for free, but I still cannot get the HD/dvr until maybe February. Not good. When Got off the phone with them I calle a local cable company and got them to install the HD-dvr for me in 5 days, :D I am also receiving a bunch of pirks for leaving Direct TV. How is it that DirectTV isn't going to have any boxes available until February. For a big company they sure have poor business sence!!!! No wonder everyone that I have spoken with about this has or is leaving D. TV.

Hope that they wake up soon.

Call up constantly and bug them.

I got on the waiting list for weeks and called them the other day and they suddenly had some and yet I never got a call.

I called them on 12/21 and it was installed on 12/27. The installer asked me how long I was on the waiting list and I told him I just called, and received.

He kinda looked at me like I had won the HR20 lottery.

I signed up for DirectV on Dec 18 and ordered the HR20. I was told that the receiver was in short supply but would be installed within 30 days. Today when I called Directv, they said currently they are not scheduling installs for the HR20 because they are out of stock. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE AND IF NOT WHY ARE THEY TELLING ME THIS?

Try calling them back. I have found, every CSR/Retention rep gives me a different answer. 95% of the times I have called, I received misinformation. To their credit, I received credits out the yazoo, but I would rather the CSR's stop making things up.
