Washington -- A top Comcast executive told a Senate panel Thursday that rules forcing cable companies to share programming with competitive distributors should be allowed to sunset last next year.
"It’s past time to repeal the program-access rules," Comcast executive vice president David Cohen said in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee....

...Under the rules, cable operators are required to sell their satellite-delivered channels to any multichannnel pay TV provider .Terrestrially delivered channels are not covered, allowing Comcast to withhold SportsNet Philadelphia from DirecTV and EchoStar Communications....
