Has anyone tried using the GE Dishmate found here to pull in local stations:

It's pretty cheap, but I was wondering if it's any good. It seems convenient though since it attaches to the back of the dish.

If it's no good, does anyone have any suggestions on better antennas to buy that aren't real expensive. I'd prefer omnidirectional so I don't have to keep changing it.

I had something similar (not attached to dish but effectively the same). It helped in that my almost non-existant OTA signals came in noticably better, but still not watchable. If your OTA picture quality was already at a 4-5 (out of 10 scale) then this might help alot. But mine was like a 2 out of 10 to start, not very helpful even if double quality.

Oh, Mine had a power inserter and that was responsible for a lot of the signal boost. Does this one include a power inserter?

Wow, only $10 for that antenna is quite a bargain!!!!!

Well if the back of your 18" dish faces the broadcast towers it might work but in my experience a piece of metak does a fair job of blocking radio waves. So putting it behind a steel dish dosen't make much sense to me, maybe that's why it is only $10.

You'd probably have just as good results hooking up a coat hanger to the back of your set...
